Postpartum recovery period and the nest phase essentials
Breastfeeding may come naturally for some women and be deeply challenging for others! I will always be advocate that breast is best, in every mother child relationship!!
I know some women still have fears and insecurities about it, I hope to help you with that before your baby is born and ready to nestle in for the first nurse! Please let me know if this is an emotionally charged issue before you birth as we can process many of the fears and insecurities before hand.I believe most of the breast feeding challenges are usually emotional! It is very rare that your breasts are not the right size or shape to feed a baby!! All breasts are designed perfectly to nourish babies, however there are some cases where women just cannot for what ever reason I would like to be there to support you to have emotional support around that as well!
I hope for you to feel good about your best effort to create this bond.It is one of the top priorities in the postpartum phase of recovery from pregnancy and birth! Establishing the best latch and flow in the first 3 days postpartum.
I have been learning from the la leche league consultants in my community to learn how to best support you to establish a good latch, understand the basics, assist you with emotional counseling around breastfeeding, herbal wisdom to support healthy milk flow and supply and many trouble shooting issues that may arise! Breast milk and boobies will always be the cure all for your babies so I would love to encourage you to give it your best shot!!

The family nest
The baby has arrived, Hooray...
Time to get to know your newborn miracle!
This is a very special and vulnerable time for new families, especially for the new mothers full recovery from and birth!
We like to try to give every mother the best postpartum arrangements, so she can have a full recovery and top up all of the energetic reserves so she can have strength and endurance for the long haul of mother hood!
The first few years can be very demanding with sleepless nights endless nursing and much less time all to your self in most cases very little at all. Its important to rest when baby naps consume warming foods and warm teas to keep the heat in to speed the healing process!
Every baby is different, but in every case a down time for the family right after birth is the best case scenario. If that can be a few weeks or the traditional 40 days that many ancient cultures used to follow.
Why 40 days for a full post partum recovery?
Well 40 weeks to full term, and then 40 days for your body and womb to return to its full recovery.
Lets face it you body just did the most profound thing and you lost a lot of fluids and blood, in some cases there may be tears or perhaps a cesarean wound.
You hormones and out of whack and there are just too many cases of postpartum depression that could be easily avoided if the mother has good support to fully recover from birth before she is back to full time super mom!
Believe me you will have plenty of time throughout mother hood to demonstrate your super mom powers! During the postpartum recovery chapter, the mother is to be on light duties.
Have friends, family or a postpartum doula come to help with food and laundry and older children!
If is often the case that the community can get a meal train going for the new family or relatives take turns coming by to help out.
In many cases the dads are not always able to take all this time off work, but for new mamas this is the full time job to care for the new baby rest and recover and build up the milk supply.
This is a great window of time for new dads too! its so very special if they can set aside time off work and then mom dad and baby can just be together and create the bond that will create a deep imprint to last a life time! Lets face it this is one of the most precious times in your life and it truly goes by quickly so its best to make space to savor it!
